Why is this action important?

Science and technology contribute to human development and prosperity and are key enablers of efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the same time, they may also present risks to our collective efforts to maintain international peace and security.

This action supports States by informing of the latest scientific and technological developments with a view to seizing opportunities, while also tackling potential risks.

What happens next?

Member States will consider the report as part of the eightieth session of the First Committee of the General Assembly in October 2025.
