The Secretary-General met with H. E. Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, President of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).
The Secretary-General encouraged the Government to take strong ownership of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He commended Lao PDR’s pursuit of Least Development Country (LDC) graduation. The Secretary-General also acknowledged Lao PDR’s commitment to the global climate change dialogue.
They discussed the forthcoming ASEAN Chair of Lao PDR in 2016, and the Secretary-General expressed his wish for deepening cooperation under Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
