Statement by the Inquiry Team on the Violent Protests in Gao on 27 January The Inquiry Team on the Violent Protests in Gao on 27 January Concludes Its Visit to Mali Bamako, 26 February 2015 - The high-level team mandated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to conduct an inquiry into the violent protests that took place in Gao, Mali, on 27 January is concluding an eight-day visit to Mali. During this visit, the team met with the Malian national authorities, the authorities of the region of Gao, the national police and the civil protection service in Gao, representatives of MINUSMA, local leaders from the Cadre de Concertation des Notables de Gao, the associations who organized the protests on 27 January, authorities from the hospitals that received the victims, opposition parties, and several other interlocutors who could help shed light on the events. The team also spoke to the protestors who were injured during these events, and visited the bereaved families, to whom they expressed condolences. The inquiry team will now travel to New York to present its preliminary report to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. It will present its final report by the end of March 2015. The inquiry team thanks the Malian authorities, the population of Gao and MINUSMA for their hospitality and their frank collaboration in the inquiry. The team is composed of three independent experts with extensive international experience: Bacre Waly Ndiaye (Senegal), Mark Kroeker (US) and Ralph Zacklin (UK).

L'Équipe d'enquĂȘte sur la manifestation violente du 27 janvier Ă  Gao termine sa visite au Mali Bamako, 26 fĂ©vrier 2015 - L'Ă©quipe de haut niveau mandatĂ©e par le SecrĂ©taire gĂ©nĂ©ral des Nations Unies pour enquĂȘter sur la manifestation violente du 27 janvier Ă  Gao, au Mali, est en train de terminer une visite de huit jours au Mali. Durant cette visite, l'Ă©quipe a rencontrĂ© les autoritĂ©s maliennes ainsi que celles de la rĂ©gion de Gao, la police nationale et le service de la protection civile Ă  Gao, les responsables de la MINUSMA, le Cadre de concertation des notables de Gao, les associations qui ont organisĂ© la manifestation du 27 janvier, les autoritĂ©s hospitaliĂšres qui ont accueilli les victimes, des partis d'opposition et plusieurs autres interlocuteurs susceptibles d'aider Ă  faire la lumiĂšre sur ces Ă©vĂšnements. L'Ă©quipe a Ă©galement pu s'entretenir avec les manifestants blessĂ©s durant ces Ă©vĂšnements, et rendre visite aux familles endeuillĂ©es Ă  qui elle a prĂ©sentĂ© ses condolĂ©ances. L'Ă©quipe d'enquĂȘte se rendra maintenant Ă  New York pour prĂ©senter son rapport prĂ©liminaire au SecrĂ©taire gĂ©nĂ©ral des Nations Unies et son rapport final d'ici Ă  la fin mars 2015. L'Ă©quipe d'enquĂȘte remercie les autoritĂ©s maliennes, la population de Gao et la MINUSMA pour leur hospitalitĂ© et leur franche collaboration lors de l’enquĂȘte.

Pour rappel, l’équipe est composĂ©e de trois experts indĂ©pendants : Messieurs Bacre Waly Ndiaye du SĂ©nĂ©gal, Ralph Zacklin du Royaume-Uni et Mark Kroeker des États-Unis.
