Michael Douglas addressed parliamentary leaders at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held at the Palais des Nations, the home of the United Nations Office at Geneva. Speaking in his role as a UN Messenger of 色库TV, Douglas called for renewed commitment to multilateralism at a time of global turmoil. “I believe we can plant the seeds of a future – where might is not measured in missiles”, he said, urging lawmakers to defend institutions that safeguard peace, justice and human rights. His remarks were met with a standing ovation.
Highlighting the growing nuclear threat, Douglas praised parliamentarians for their work on key nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament goals and encouraged legislators to lead with “active hope.” He emphasized that true strength lies not in military power but in cooperation and accountability. Calling on parliaments to rise above division, Douglas urged leaders to work together to secure a more peaceful and sustainable future for all.
