29 June 2026 - At a time of heightened geopolitical tensions, the world is facing an unprecedented convergence of challenges ¡ª rising energy costs driven by conflict, intensifying climate impacts and natural disasters, environmental degradation, and slowing growth with mounting debt burdens. These crises are deeply interconnected, and so too must be the solutions.
Recognizing this, the , to take place on 29-30 June 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, will focus on practical ways to address multiple challenges and to translate integrated planning into coordinated action. for this two-day event co-convened by UN DESA and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change () Secretariat, in collaboration with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific ().
The Conference will bring together ministers, policymakers, practitioners, international organizations, the private sector, civil society and youth to exchange experiences, country case studies and policy solutions that advance synergistic action to address climate, environment and sustainable development challenges. It will build on the outcomes of the and the work of the on Climate and SDG Synergy, whose Third Global Report last year found that the cost of effective solutions could be reduced by nearly 40 per cent if silos could be broken down and interrelated crises tackled synergistically.
Organized back-to-back with the the Conference will strengthen linkages between global commitments and regional action, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region, and a report on synergistic solutions in the region will be issued.
