The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is undertaking preparations for the world¡¯s highest decision-making body for the environment: the sixth session of the UN Environment Assembly?to be held in Nairobi later this month.
From 26 February to 1 March, representatives from the UN¡¯s 193 Member States are expected to adopt key resolutions on international environmental policy and governance issues, implementation of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda, cooperation with , and more.
¡°[The?UN Environment Assembly] holds the power to weave agreements and promises into a tapestry of action. United, inclusive, and multilateral action that addresses climate change, nature, desertification, biodiversity loss,?pollution, and waste as one indivisible challenge,¡± ?Inger Andersen.
Besides the plenaries and high-level meetings, the UN Complex in Nairobi will welcome over 1,000 representatives of non-governmental organizations, the UN, the private sector, and other environmental advocates. Those accredited will participate in more than 30 and , , , and .
