The funds will support the provision of Personal Protective Equipment and expand the capacity of intensive care units, especially in Gaza, among other areas.<\/p>\n<p>\/&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>**<u>Senior Personnel Appointment<\/u><\/p>\n<p>And finally, a senior personnel announcement.\u00a0 Today, the Secretary-General, following consultations with the Advisory Commission of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/press\/en\/2020\/sga1951.doc.htm\">appointing Philippe Lazzarini of Switzerland as the Agency\u2019s new Commissioner-General<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary-General wishes to extend his appreciation and gratitude to Christian Saunders, who will continue to serve as Acting Commissioner-General until Mr.\u00a0Lazzarini assumes his post.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Lazzarini brings to the position more than 30\u00a0years of experience in humanitarian assistance and international coordination in conflict and post-conflict areas with the UN, the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) and the private sector.\u00a0 And, most recently he served in Lebanon as Deputy Special Coordinator, as well as Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>All right.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been getting in your questions via text, and I\u2019ll try to answer them.<\/p>\n<p>\/&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HIGHLIGHTS OF THE U.N.
