\n\t\t\t\tNote by the Secretary-General<\/strong> **\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t1.   In decision 2002\/244 of 25 July 2002, the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 2002\/10 of 19 April 2002,<\/span>1 <\/sup><\/span>on the human rights situation of Lebanese detainees in Israel, endorsed the decision of the Commission to request the Secretary-General to bring the resolution to the attention of the Government of Israel and to call upon it to comply with its provisions, and to report to the Assembly at its fifty-seventh session on the results of his efforts in that regard.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2.   In view of the above-mentioned requests, the Secretary-General addressed a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel on 10 June 2002. \n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t3.   No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present note.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
