The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, met with H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers?and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on Thursday 28 May 2026 at UN Headquarters in New York.
The President of the General Assembly commended Turkmenistan’s active and constructive engagement in the United Nations system and welcomed its continued commitment to the UN Charter. They discussed their priorities of the 80th session of the General Assembly and the role of preventive diplomacy in the United Nations agenda. They also underscored the importance of strengthening inclusive multilateral dialogue and the need to defend the UN Charter in these challenging times.
