9 November 2022 –?President Csaba K?r?si will participate in the 27th UN Climate Change?Conference of the Parties, otherwise known as COP27, underway in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
President K?r?si will give remarks at the opening conference for Water Day, on Monday, 14 November. This COP, under the lead of the Egyptian Presidency, is the first COP to include water on the official agenda.
Water Day will provide opportunities to raise awareness on the strong interplay between water and climate resilience and the importance of placing water at the heart of climate action.
On Tuesday, 15 November,?President K?r?si will participate in ministerial meetings related to energy, which is one of the themes of the day.
While in Sharm el-Sheikh, President K?r?si is expected to meet with COP27 President and Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.
He will also hold meetings with other national officials, UN leaders, as well as representatives of civil society, women and youth.
President K?r?si will be back in New York on Wednesday, 16 November.
The President will travel with two OPGA colleagues. The travel costs are funded by the OPGA Trust Fund. Travel expenses for a third colleague, who is seconded from the World Meteorological Organization, are paid for by that UN agency.
