GENERAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT TRAVEL TO CENTRAL ASIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • The President has concluded his visit to Kyrgyzstan, which took place from 7 to 8 July. The President was received in Bishkek by H.E. Mr. Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, where the President expressed appreciation for Kyrgyzstan`s initiatives and active role on the biodiversity and nature agendas as well as its contributions to UN peacekeeping operations. The President also met with H.E. Mr. Dastan Dushekeev, the Chief of Foreign Policy Department at the Presidency Administration, H.E. Mr. Azizbek Madmarov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Adnan Quereshi, the UN Resident Coordinator Ad Interim.<\/li>\n
  • The President concluded his visit to Uzbekistan on 7 July, where he was received in Tashkent by H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Presidents had a detailed discussion on the current situation in Afghanistan and acknowledged the need for socio-economic development and support to maintain peace and stability. The President recognized Uzbekistan\u2019s initiatives regarding the Aral Sea region and the role of parliaments in SDG implementation.<\/li>\n
  • The President is now in Kazakhstan.<\/li>\n

      • This morning, there is an informal meeting of the General Assembly on the follow-up to the declaration on the commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the United Nations, where the Secretary-General spoke.<\/li>\n
      • This afternoon, the General Assembly will meet to hear the President\u2019s solemn appeal in connection with the observance of the Olympic Truce.\u00a0<\/li>\n
      • Following up on a question from Tuesday, regarding whether there would be a meeting of the General Assembly to discuss the recommendations of the Independent Panel on Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR), the Spokesperson confirmed an informal plenary meeting on 28 July at 3PM in the General Assembly Hall. The Spokesperson confirmed no output document was planned and said the OPGA website will be updated with a programme in due course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
