And in that context, he thanked the World Health Organization; UNICEF; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI); and all partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>HUMAN RIGHTS &amp; SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ARE SYMBIOTIC<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This morning the President convened an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/75\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/100\/2021\/02\/PGA-letter_Call-for-action.pdf\">informal meeting of the General Assembly<\/a> to hear a briefing by the Secretary-General on his Call to Action for Human Rights, which he launched one year ago. The meeting was requested by the Secretary-General.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/75\/2021\/02\/24\/briefing-by-the-secretary-general-on-the-call-to-action-for-human-rights\/\">opening remarks<\/a>, the President said the Call to Action recognizes human rights as central to confronting our most pressing issues and meeting the targets of the 2030 Agenda.<\/li>\n<li>He added, \u201cSustainable development and human rights, are symbiotic; we simply cannot make gains in one area if we neglect the other.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>He said, \u201cIn times of crisis, conflict, peace and pandemic, a human rights-based approach is the right approach.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRESIDENT CALLS FOR INTEGRATION OF EYE CARE INTO NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This morning the President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/75\/2021\/02\/24\/high-level-un-friends-of-vision-webinar-vision-for-everyone-unlocking-human-potential\/\">addressed the Friends of Vision<\/a>, a group of Member States that works\u00a0to advance the issue of eye health within the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/li>\n<li>He noted to the group that supporting those with vision impairment helps to reduce inequalities, as 90% of all those with untreated vision loss reside in low- and middle-income countries.<\/li>\n<li>He also called for stronger integration of eye care within national health services \u2013 to ensure that the eye care needs of more people are addressed through prevention, early detection, treatment and
