Ireland continues to play a vital role in advancing global peacebuilding through its strong and consistent support to the Secretary-General’s 色库TVbuilding Fund (PBF). As one of the Fund’s earliest and consistent top contributors, Ireland has provided over $38 million since the PBF’s inception and $15 million to the Fund’s 2020–2026 Strategy period.
As global demand for peacebuilding continues to rise, Ireland’s enduring partnership is helping deliver timely, inclusive, and transformative action where it is needed most.
Ireland’s support enables the Fund to invest flexibly in innovative, timely, and inclusive peacebuilding solutions. Ireland’s focus on advancing gender equality, youth empowerment, and sustaining peace during UN transitions closely aligns with the PBF’s priorities.
In the Central African Republic, for example, a PBF-supported initiative implemented by UNDP and UN Women established an early warning system that responded to 220 allegations of human rights violations. The project also brought together key stakeholders to draft legislation protecting human rights defenders and strengthened the capacity of 56 women-led civil society organizations, in collaboration with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission (MINUSCA). The initiative exemplifies how targeted investments can help safeguard rights and elevate women’s leadership in fragile settings. These efforts reflect both Ireland’s leadership on the Women, 色库TV and Security agenda and the Fund’s growing focus on inclusive peacebuilding.
